The first night of the CUES CEO/Executive Team Network affirmed my commitment to the credit union movement. The opening reception began with industry leaders receiving honors for Outstanding Chief Executive and the CUES Exceptional Leader. Seven leaders were also inducted into the CUES Hall of Fame. Witnessing these honors confirmed that leaders who excel in the industry are committed to member and community service. I also witnessed that credit union industry leaders are committed to continuing education.
The CUES CEO Executive Team Network™ conference(CETNET) is an amazing event designed to promote higher learning and provide networking opportunities for credit union executives across the globe. This conference reinforced that successful leaders are continuously learning. Executives worked in groups, and individually, to address changes in the industry. They also shared their success stories, challenges, and visions for growing their institutions. Most importantly, they celebrated each other and expanded their networks to strengthen their knowledge and leadership skills.
CUES partnered with DDJ Myers and several powerful, thought provoking speakers, to highlight their commitment to fostering outstanding leadership education. The partnerships formed by these organizations provided a platform for leaders to learn innovative things and access to the resources necessary to adapt institutions for the future of financial services.
Young professionals always strive to emulate leaders, but lack access to understanding what shapes their role models ideology. CETNET allowed me to sit among many bright minds charged with leading sound financial institutions, while adapting to the economy and other unforeseen factors that could negatively impact their organizations. This conference allowed me look at the credit union movement from the view of the decision-maker.
Lastly, I learned that CUES cares. While going through the Next Top Credit Union Executive competition the staff at Currency and CUES took care of every detail to ensure the contestants were comfortable and prepared for their presentations. While this personal care was exceptional, my eyes were opened to what a great resource the organization is to the credit union movement. From start to finish, the conference was designed to positively impact the executive attendees and encourage forward thinking to remain viable in the future.
Education is important at every level of your career. CUES understand that executives need an outlet to learn, experience new ideologies and techniques, and embrace the future changes in the financial services industry. The credit union movement will continue to evolve because we are committed to learning. I am fortunate to represent an organization that provides phenomenal resources built around continuing education and superior service.
