Canada #5: Duane Nicol

Duane Nicol is a 32-year-old Manager, Corporate Social Reponsibility with Assiniboine Credit Union ($2.6B) in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Synopsis: As Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, I will be leading a number of projects in 2010 that will increase economic inclusion for marginalized members of our community.

These projects will expand programs that connect the unbanked with accounts and will explore new ways to extend small, shorter-term credit to people with limited incomes. One project in particular will support the growth of poverty-fighting Asset Building Programs here in Manitoba and throughout Canada by improving our specially designed Matched Savings Account product and by developing a how-to manual for credit unions to replicate this special offering.
