Carrie Williams is a 35-year-old Strategic Liaison & Project Manager at University of Michigan Credit Union ($516M) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Synopsis: My entry for the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition describes my idea for the new Strategic Liaison and Project Manager position at the University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) and reports on the success of the program.
My suggestion for the position was based on my varied experiences at UMCU, including branch operations, lending, accounting, and compliance, as well as my knowledge of our core system and interest in programming. I recognized that there is often a language barrier between IT staff and other departments within the credit union and recommended the Strategic Liaison and Project Manager role as a way to bridge the communication gap.
The Strategic Liaison and Project Manager position has resulted in improved communication, a better understanding of priorities, more efficient execution of projects, and better strategic alignment at University of Michigan Credit Union.
