No purchase necessary. This search competition is void in whole or in part where prohibited by law. To complete your entry you must read and agree to the following rules. Participation in this search competition constitutes full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these rules. All dollar amounts are in U.S. funds. The search competition is presented by Credit Union Executives Society (CUES®) (the “Presenter”).
The CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec Competition (the “Competition”) runs from May 1 to October 12, 2017. CUES has the right to change the dates without notice.
Phase 1: The Search
A. Nomination Period:
We're looking for young credit union professionals, age 35 and under who have not yet reached the CEO level to be nominated.
Anyone is eligible to nominate another person. Nominators may also nominate themselves.
The nomination period begins at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on May 1, 2017 and ends at 3:00 p.m. ET time on May 12, 2017.
Nominees will be invited to submit an application during the application phase.
B. Eligibility Criteria:
This Competition is open only to credit union employees who are age 35 or under. There are no geographic restrictions. Entrants do not have to be nominated to enter or win.
C. How to Enter:
To enter go to www.NextTopCreditUnionExec.com (the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec website) during the Application Period and fully complete an online application form and upload your application video following the instructions there. The application period starts at 12:00 p.m. ET on May 15, 2017 and ends at 3:00 p.m. ET on June 26, 2017. Submissions received after that time will not be eligible to move forward in the Competition, unless otherwise specified by the Presenter.
Notice: You must comply with the following rules when you submit an application and upload a video. Do not do anything in connection with creating your video that might endanger anyone, including yourself, or which could cause damage to property or your application. This may result in your video being disqualified.
Entry must consist of:
- A fully completed entry form
- A short video (we recommend 2-3 minutes) that includes information about you, your role at your credit union and a pitch about a current project or program that you are currently working on at your credit union. You can also pitch an idea that you have to advance your credit union or the credit union industry and has not yet been started.
Your entry submission must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:
- Meet the technical specifications required for it to be uploaded to, and received by, the contest website by the end of the application phase.
- Not contain any language or images or content that conﬂicts with any of the Presenter's core values, or otherwise be objectionable (as determined by the Presenter in their sole discretion).
- Not contain any content that violates any law or any third party's rights (including trademark, copyright, privacy and intellectual property rights).
- Be submitted in English.
In the event of a dispute, applications shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the entry (the “Applicant”).
All applications are subject entirely to the discretion of the Presenter, whose decisions are final. Each entry that meets the criteria above and that is submitted in accordance with these Rules, will become eligible for Phase Two: Selection Period.
Only one entry per person will be accepted. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Chances of winning depend on the number and skill level of Applicants.
Phase 2: Selection Period
The Phase Two: Selection Period will begin following the application phase.
D. Identifying the Top 15:
All video submissions will be posted on www.NextTopCreditUnionExec.com for public review and voting. Only one vote per legitimate email address is allowed.
The vote period begins at 12:00 p.m. ET on June 28, 2017 and ends at 3:00 p.m. ET on July 10, 2017.
The ten (10) entrants with the most votes will automatically qualify for the Top 15. Additionally, the Presenter will create a judging committee to choose up to five (5) other entrants to become members of the Top 15. All members of the Top 15 will be notified of their inclusion in the Top 15 by email.
Entrants who reach the Top 15 will be required to submit a 500- to 750-word article by 12:00 p.m. noon ET on July 28, 2017. These articles will be posted, in random order, between July 31 and August 22 on www.NextTopCreditUnionExec.com.
E. Identifying the Five Finalists:
A panel made up of two CUES members and Deedee Myers, Chief Executive Officer of DDJ Myers, will judge the Top 15. The two CUES members will be named after all of the application videos are in as to avoid any conflicts of interest. Our judging panel will evaluate and score each member of the Top 15 based on their original application video, their blog post and the value that their project brings to their credit union and to the credit union industry as a whole. These results will be tabulated and the five highest-ranking applicants will be named as Finalists. Finalists will be advised by email and announced on the website on or about August 24, 2017.
F. Determining the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec:
Each of the five Finalists will be required to submit an additional short (we suggest one- to two-minutes) YouTube video detailing the progress of his or her project by 12:00 p.m. ET on September 20, 2017. These videos will be posted on the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec blog and will help the general public and our judging panel to further evaluate the Finalists.
All Finalists will come together October 10-12, 2017, at CUES' Network™ in Las Vegas. On the afternoon of October 11, each Finalist will have 7 minutes to present the results and progress or planning of their project to the judging panel, the conference audience and live to the online audience.
After the presentations, the judges will submit their completed score sheets, conference attendees will vote for their favorite Finalist on the spot and the public will be able to vote online throughout the rest of October 11. The vote period begins at approximately 5:00 p.m. ET on October 11, 2017 and ends at 11:00 p.m. ET on October 11, 2017.
Each Finalist will be given a combined score consisting of 50% judging panel scores, 20% live audience votes, 15% online votes and 15% social actions – comments, likes and tweets – on their two videos and one blog post, accumulated from the time of application up until 12:00 p.m. ET on October 4, 2017.
The criteria the judging panel will use includes:
- Creative Thinking
- Presentation Style
The criteria for the social actions includes:
Social actions (for instance, Shares, Likes, Comments, Tweets, etc.) on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Disqus or the Next Top Credit Union Exec blog will be totaled and weighted. Social actions by the Finalists will not count as part of the total.
On the morning of October 12, 2017, the Finalist with the highest combined score will be declared the 2017 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec.
The CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec agrees to provide updates for www.NextTopCreditUnionExec.com approximately every three weeks from the end of October 2017 to April 2018, totaling at least 10 updates including a blog post highlighting their experience at CEO Institute I. In 2018, the winner agrees to provide 2 updates highlighting their experiences at CEO Institute II (one before CEO Institute I and one after CEO Institute II).
Phase 3: Awarding the Prizes
For all Applicants
All CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec applicants will receive a free CUES NextGen Membership for the remainder of 2017, valued at $125. If an applicant is already a member, he or she will receive a $125 credit to use towards other CUES offerings. Applicants will be contacted on how to use this credit but it will be their responsibility to redeem the credit within the given time frame.
For the Top 15
Each member of the Top 15 will receive a remote coaching session from DDJ Myers.
For the Five Finalists
Each Finalist will receive a CUES reward package valued at approximately $6,000 including:
- Registration to attend CUES' Network™.
- Economy airfare.
- Accommodation for three nights in Las Vegas.
- Two additional remote executive coaching sessions from DDJ Myers.
If a Finalist cannot continue as a Finalist, the Presenter retains the right to offer the spot to another contestant.
For the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec
The winner of the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition will receive a $20,000 educational package from CUES, including:
- Registration, economy airfare and accommodation to his or her choice of one CUES’ CEO Institute in 2017 and one CUES' CEO Institute in 2018.
- Two additional remote executive coaching sessions with a coach from DDJ Myers.
The Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. The Prize is not redeemable for cash. If a potential winner cannot accept the Prize as awarded, his or her entry will be forfeited and another eligible contestant may be selected. Any costs associated with accepting the Prize shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.
Other Matters that are Important to Read
H. Conditions of Participation:
By entering this Competition, the Applicant certifies and acknowledges that:
- The video submitted is original work and that he or she is the creator.
- He or she has agreed that the video, all images and ideas submitted with this application are being submitted on a non-confidential basis and may be edited and posted to a website or used in other marketing and advertising materials without compensation.
- The Applicant is permitted to disclose the video and all images contained therein to the Presenter for its use and the video, images and ideas shall become the property of the Presenter on submission.
- Submission of the video and any images and content may impact the Applicant’s legal rights to protect them.
- All trademarks and copyrighted material have been properly acknowledged in the application.
The Applicant acknowledges that the Presenter or any of its affiliates or subsidiaries may already be in the process of independent development and innovation for various products and services and therefore any disclosure of information or ideas submitted by the Applicant may not be new to the Presenter or its affiliates or subsidiaries and would not affect or impair its proprietary rights to its own innovation.
I. Assignment of Rights to Submission:
By entering this Competition, you irrevocably and exclusively assign all copyright, without limitation of time, place, medium, support or language, in the video to the Presenter and waive all legal and moral rights to the video in favor of the Presenter. Accordingly, you acknowledge that the Presenter will have the unrestricted and exclusive right to use the video for any purpose, including but not limited to, publishing it in an electronic form on the CUES' Next Top Credit Union Exec website for promotional purposes without further compensation. The Presenter also has the right to (but is not required to) use your name, image, likeness, age, and biographical information and credit union name in credit along with the video. You confirm that you are the sole author of the video and that you own all rights to it and are able to fully assign all rights to the Presenter as contemplated above. You agree to compensate the Presenter should any claims arise out of the use of the video by the Presenter.
As a condition of accepting a Prize in this Competition, the winner agrees to a Declaration of Compliance with Rules and an Assignment, Release and Indemnity, assigning all rights to the video submission to the Presenter, including all copyrights and moral rights and releasing CUES, its affiliates and respective advertising and promotions agencies from any liability in connection with this Competition or the Prizes awarded.
J. No responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, for any disruption to telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of any entry to be received because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, as well as lost, incomplete, destroyed, misdirected, illegible or late entries which for any reason are not received.
K. Submissions shall not be returned to participants.
L. No Prize substitutions will be made, except for the right of the Presenter to make a Prize substitution of equivalent or greater value in the event the Prize, or any portion thereof, is unavailable for any reason.
M. The Presenter reserves the right to modify or cancel this Competition at any time including, without limitation, in the event of technical corruption, virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or any other technical problems, which may arise from time-to-time beyond the control of the Presenter, destroying the integrity of this Competition. No liability or responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, resulting from user attempts to participate in this Competition or if required, download any information necessary to participate in this Competition. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.
N. By entering this Competition, participants agree to hold the Presenter, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising out of or in any way connected with the operation of this Competition and use of a Prize. Participants of this Competition assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Competition or use or redemption of a Prize. By participating in this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by the Rules and the decisions of the Competition judges, which are final.
O. The Presenter reserves the right to disqualify any individual whom it finds to be in violation of these official Rules or tampering with the entry or vote process. The Presenter reserves the right to refuse an entry from a person whose eligibility is in question or who has been disqualified or is otherwise ineligible to enter.
P. This Competition and these Rules, shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Wisconsin.
Q. Any litigation must be initiated in Wisconsin.
S. Caution: Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or interfere with the legitimate operation of the search competition may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and the sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other relief from all responsible persons to the fullest extent permitted by law.
